RADIO OPERATOR (MATERNITY COVER)
LOCATION:
 Damaturu, Yobe

JOB SUMMARY

The Radio Operator will be based in Damaturu, Yobe State and report to the Base Logistician.

The Radio Operator will be the focal point for VHF and HF communication on field missions according to the needs and SOPs.

He/she will also organize scanning, photocopying and saving of all financial documents and program documents as well as carry out office assistant duties.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Be a focal point for VHF and HF communication between the base and teams on field missions according to needs and SOPs.
  • Monitor the Action Against Hunger frequencies and clear them from non-authorized users and keep the radio logbook (location, date and hour of important messages or events) as indicated on SOPs.
  • Transmit/relay messages between teams/Action Against Hunger Nigeria bases when signal is low and take messages and transmit them to the appropriate person in the office.
  • Dispatch according to the needs and register the loan of VHF radio handsets.
  • Ensure all security advisories from the field co are immediately relayed to the staff and immediately report sensitive/security related matters to the supervisor or Field Coordinator.
  • Training new staff/visitors on the use of VHF and HF radios.
  • Ensure all VHF/HF base and hand held stations are in good working condition. – Ensure maintenance of all equipment: batteries, acid, connections.
  • Support request from teams to collect stationaries from the store sub unit in logistics and assist Base
  • Logistician in maintaining inventory of assets within office.
  • Assist in extracting and inputting data and files from various sources in administrative, human resource, procurement.

    QUALIFICATIONS

    The successful candidate will:
  • Have completed Secondary Education in an Accredited Academic Institution.
  • Have a minimum one year of relevant professional experience on office operation/assistance and related experiences.
  • Have good knowledge and working experience with HF and VHF Radios.
  • Be flexible in terms of working hours
  • Have excellent command of spoken and written English.
  • Have previous experience in INGO at the same level of position preferably.
  • Have knowledge on radio installation/basic maintenance, electricity or any technical field.


AREA FINANCE MANAGER

SUMMARY
The position is based in Monguno, Borno work under the direct supervision of the Field Coordinator.

The Area Finance Manager will be responsible for the coordination and implementation of the financial policies of the base.

TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Disseminate information on the accounting procedures of the base and ensuring that these procedures are respected.
  • Ensure field books are close on monthly basis towards the end of the month.
  • Ensure that all cash count & bank reconciliation are done at the month end for field books.
  • Review the field monthly accountancy to ensure correctness of account codes, budget lines and descriptions used and feedback is sent to all admins on accountancy.
  • Prepare detailed report for Finance Coordinator on outstanding/prepaid advances if requested.
  • Contribute to grant financial management, donors compliance & budget analysis.
  • Implement treasury forecast, cash management, organise performance management and training.
  • Conduct internal audit.

The successful candidate will;

  • Have a bachelor in Accounting/Finance; Master degree is a plus with minimum of 3 years experience in a finance related role.
  • Have experience with accounting software; knowledge of SAGA would be a plus.
  • Professionalism, honesty, reliability, autonomy & strong sense of responsibility.
  • Exceptional organization, time management and attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication and analytical skills.
  • Strong computer skills particularly in Microsoft Excel, literacy and numeracy.
  • Be fluent in English and Hausa.
  • Possess the capacity of analysis, synthesis and reporting.
  • Have strong accounting, budget and team management skills.

AREA HR MANAGER

JOB SUMMARY 
The position is based in Monguno, Borno and reports to the Field Coordinator.

The Area HR Manager is responsible for implementing the HR policies and procedures and provide high quality HR support to staff and programs in Borno State.

Tasks and Responsibilities

  • Implement pay and other HR policies and contract management.
  • Oversee the implementation of performance management and training for staff at the base
  • Provide HR monthly reports.
  • Plan and facilitate HR activities in the team: contract, recruitment and employee relation.
  • Prepare monthly and mid-month cash forecasts for HR related expenses.
  • Prepare field briefing schedule for new staff arriving in the field.
  • Lead the identification and development of improved recruitment and retention strategies.
  • Filing all documents for international staff, and updating their files in line with Head of HR’s direction.
  • Maintain the international staff database at field level.
  • Provide advice to the senior management team on staffing and administration.

The successful candidate will;

  • Have a bachelor’s degree in human resources or similar field. Post graduate qualification in human resources is an added advantage.
  • Possess a minimum of three years of HR generalist experience with at least 1 year HR experience in an INGO/NGO across all HR disciplines, including but not limited to employment, benefits, compensation, employee relations, training and development, workers compensation and conflict resolution.
  • Have excellent knowledge of MS Office Suite (high proficiency in Excel).
  • Ability to work in a stressful environment, taking initiative & prioritizing multiple tasks with minimal supervision.
  • Have strong organizational, communication skills and capacity to deal with difficult situations.
  • Interest & commitment to the humanitarian principles of Action Against Hunger.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, ability to work both independently & as a member of a team.
  • Be fluent written & spoken English.
  • Proven ability to maintain core HR values of confidentiality, fairness and discretion.
  • Have strong commitment to Action Against Hunger mission & core values.
