CLL was established in 1994 with the point of giving consideration and support to helpless and destitute kids in Lagos.

YOUTH COUNSELLOR

THE ROLE (JOB SUMMARY)
Youth counselors treat adolescents who have emotional problems. As a youth counselor, you could counsel adolescents individually or through group sessions.

You may need to provide crisis intervention and might also help youths to resolve conflicts, overcome life hurdles and replace undesirable habits with acceptable behaviors.

You often need to confer with other professionals, including social workers, educators, criminal justice officials and psychologists.

Your duties as a youth counselor could include creating and implementing personalized treatment programs for troubled adolescents.

You might interview the adolescents and their family members to recommend needed social services.

You’ll then review and alter their plans to achieve agreed-upon goals.

Your duties might also include supervising, disciplining and interacting with youth

QUALIFICATION: BSc/B.Ed./ B.A. in Guidance and Counselling, Social Work or Educational Psychology

FUND RAISING/EVALUATION OFFICER

THE ROLE (JOB SUMMARY):
CLL has been developing in breadth and depth over the past few years and the capacity to support the organisation needs to increase.

We are currently developing our fundraising systems and strategies and are looking for a competent and enthusiastic individual to help us ensure our long-term sustainability.

The role of the FEO is an exciting opportunity to use your initiative and creativity to help us develop and improve our strategies, as well as sought-after skills in charity fundraising.

Reporting to the Program Manager (PM), the FEO is responsible for developing and delivering CLL’s fund-raising programme, including developing corporate partnerships, co-ordinating direct mail campaigns, organising fund-raising events and appeals, and sourcing grant income from trusts, foundations and other statutory bodies.

In addition, the FEO is responsible for ensuring accurate and consistent data collection and reporting on the children that come to CLL for help and support and on any projects undertaken by CLL, as well as for the evaluation and analysis of the data collected in order to develop and support the organisation’s programs and policies and provide reports to donors and other relevant bodies.

The FEO works closely with the other members of the CLL leadership team, and is expected to work alongside his/her colleagues in supervising and educating the children that come to the drop-in centre on basic literacy, numeracy and life skills and provide such other support and carry out such other duties as the PM may require.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES/ WORK ACTIVITIES
Fundraising:

  • Help us develop exciting new creative community fundraising strategies through developing resources, working on publicity strategies and more.
  • Work with the Program Manager to develop strategy for recruiting major donors and organising successful fundraising events, including receptions for major donors.
  • Recruit new supporters and advocates, who represent CLL on a local level.
  • Develop attractive resources to accompany our strategy, supporting CLL Executive members in fundraising.
  • Research potential funding opportunities and make detailed applications to trust funds and potential donors; write and present proposals
  • Establish clears systems and ensure regular applications are made.
  • Explore new and alternative source of funding to meet our agreed fundraising targets.
  • Manage Donor Relationships
  • Manage relationships with existing donors, including providing regular progress reports of the children and project up-dates.
  • Ensure up-to date and accurate records are kept of how donations have been applied, and ensure those records are easily accessible for donors.
  • Research and approach trusts, government agencies and other bodies that could potentially make grants to the organisation.
  • Manage the grant application process and ensure that reporting is tracked and meets donors’ expectations.
  • Develop relationships with major donors, identify new potential major donors and nurture relationships.

Marketing and PR tasks:

  • Communicating with the public: online, via the media, through direct mail etc.
  • Liaising with copywriter, printer etc to produce fundraising promotional material.
