Title: Community Mobilization Assistant
Location:
Maiduguri, Borno

Job Summary

  • The position is based in Maiduguri, Borno and supervised by the Community Mobilization Officer.
  • The Community Mobilization Assistant is responsible for direct implementation of community mobilization throughout the organization’s cash transfer programming and the Nutrition component of the project.

Tasks and Responsibilities

  • Manage community mobilization field teams within sector to ensure compliance, technical quality and coherence in all Action Against Hunger mobilization, trainings and IEC material Building.
  • Ensure tracking and reporting of activities under community mobilization of all two component of the program (cash transfer and Nutrition).
  • Participate in regular internal and external coordination for the program at LGA level and at state level when required.
  • Provide training, orientation to the target communities regarding Action Against Hunger project, CRM, health and hygiene and other mobilization activities part of the project.
  • Provide guideline and training to field assistants for effective community mobilization at the LGA level.
  • Compile and share reports and findings on daily basis to provide help in compilation of quality reports with an overview of activities and contextual updates and quantitative indicator follow-up and submit to supervisor for consolidation.
  • Represent Action Against Hunger with local authorities, partners and other program stakeholders at LGA level.

Position Requirements

  • Minimum of National Diploma in Public Administration, Community Health Extension, Political Science, and Public Health, other related qualifications.
  • At least relevant work experience in humanitarian contexts.
  • Willingness and capacity to be flexible and accommodating when faced with difficult and frustrating working conditions.
  • Ability to work in an environment where there are physical discomforts associated with change in weather or discomforts associated with noise, dust or dirt.
  • Microsoft Office Skills (Outlook, Excel, Power Point, Word).
  • Fluency in English and Hausa. Proficiency with local languages (Kanuri, Fulani, Shuwa) is an added advantage.
  • Resident of community area (LGA) of work, networks within community.
  • Previous NGO experience managing mobilization in different interventions (i.e.  FSL, cash transfers, WASH, Nutrition).

Title: Finance Officer
Location:
Monguno, Borno
Job Type: Full Time

Job Summary

  • The position is based in Monguno, Borno State and report to the Finance Manager.
  • The Finance Officer will manage the cash/bank and the accountancy of the base, budget maintenance, cash forecast and cash flow.

Tasks and Responsibilities

  • Manage the cash and the accountancy of the base.
  • Ensure the bank books and cash books are closed, reconciled and sent to capital on monthly basis together with the bank reconciliation and cash counts.
  • Ensure compliance with the purchase procedure.
  • Ensure the supervision of Finance Archivist.
  • Follow-up base filing.
  • Verify and cross check all base monthly financial documents are correctly allocated and completed as per AAH Archiving guidelines.

Position Requirements

  • Bachelor’s level degree in Management, Finance, or related field; MBA or similar higher degree a plus.
  • Minimum of 2 years experience in one or more finance field.
  • Experience in a non-governmental organization is preferred.
  • Have exceptional organization and planning skills, ability to manage and follow work plans
  • Have interpersonal, ability to negotiate, influence, give effective feedback, be a team player.
  • Have good communication skills with the ability to adapt communication style to different situations and individuals.
  • Have excellent knowledge of Microsoft Office packages and other financial related software.
  • Be able to manage stress effectively, juggle competing priorities, balance various logistics and other team needs.
  • Ability to communicate in English and Hausa/Kanuri.

Title: WASH Officer – Rapid Response Mechanism
Location
: Maiduguri, Borno
Job Type: Full Time

Job Summary

  • The position is based in Maiduguri, Borno State and reports to the WASH Manager-Rapid Response Mechanism.
  • The WASH Officer will be accountable for professional technical contribution to drilling and construction of the WASH project activities within the framework of the rapid response mechanism program in Northeast, Nigeria.

Tasks and Responsibilities

  • Overall supervision of water, hygiene promotion and sanitation construction activities including preparing technical design and bills of quantities.
  • Train and build the capacity of staffs and partners.
  • Coordinate with internal staff and local stakeholders to ensure smooth project implementation.
  • Provide support to others sectors in RRM preparation and responses.
  • Continuous assessment assess of emergency needs, as requested, especially taking in the broader perspective of public health.
  • Provide technical assistance to the RRM team to assess sanitation needs, and design and implement the most appropriate form of sanitation system.
  • Work closely with the RRM team throughout the planning, design and implementation stages of the WASH technical and hygiene promotion activities. Hygiene promotion is a vital element in such infrastructure activities, especially in cholera responses
  • Ensure hygiene promotion and sanitation is integrated in all WASH activities.
  • Provide support to others sectors in RRM preparation and responses.
  • Coordinate with internal and local stakeholders to ensure smooth project implementation.
  • Ensure collaboration with RUWASA, BOSEPA, Ministry of Water Resources, Ministry of Health and SPHCDA in the implementation of RRM activities.

Requirements

  • Degree in Engineering, Hydrology, Civil Engineering, and other related fields
  • Minimum of two years relevant work experience.
  • Previous experience in supervising drilling and construction activities.
  • Previous experience in hygiene promotion activities.
  • Professional, good organizational capacity, motivated, open, creative, mature, responsible, flexible and, culturally sensitive.
  • Microsoft Office and designing software Skills (AutoCAD, Outlook, Excel, Power Point, Word).
  • Willing and able to be based and travel regularly within remote areas, where services are limited.
  • Fluency in Hausa and English.
